Amanda Emilio
My name is Amanda and I’m musician and writer from Long Island, NY. My poems often address themes such as grief, memory, nature, and exploring the ties between everyday life and spirituality. My work can be found in Amethyst Review, The Winged Moon, Beyond Words Magazine, and shoegaze literary among others.
When I’m not creating, I serve as a poetry reader for Epiphany where I enjoy discovering up-and-coming voices in the literary community. I am particularly fond of writing that pulls back the curtain of my expectations to reveal deeper truths about the human condition. Poets like Gwendolyn Brooks, Ocean Vuong, Caroline Bird, and Chen Chen are some of my favorite writers whose poems achieve such transcendence; their use of inventive language and detailed imagery always stirs my emotions while igniting inspiration for my own writing.
Outside of composing songs and poetry, I also love photography, exercising at the gym, nature hikes, and chatting about life and latest reads with friends during book club.
