Literary Movements:

I can say that I am into Romanticism. However, I have to say, German Romanticism like the kinds of Goethe or Schiller really embody what I enjoy most about poetry. I love the integration of nature and emotions. I grew up in the Eastern Himalayan foothills of Northeast India. So I am deeply intertwined with nature. I find the most affinity in German Romanticism.

Favourite Poets:

I really do not have a so-called favourite poet. However, I love Khalil Gibran and John Donne. So, Metaphysical poetry is also one of my loves. When it comes to books, I would say Meditations by Marcus Aurelius is my most favourite book. I know it is not a traditional fiction book, but it has helped me through so much. Otherwise, Heidegger’s Being and Time is also a personal favourite. Despite it not strictly being poetry, I think the philosophy in the whole book truly embodies my approach to poetry, as a whole. Philosophy and poetry, in my honest opinion, emanate from the same roots.

Hobbies: I play the guitar and I love making music. I used to practise kickboxing (although I have not done so in a long time, and something I long to go back to). I love watching movies too. However, of course, writing - either poems or short stories, is my truest hobby.

Why The Poetry Lighthouse? The Poetry Lighthouse, I think, stood out to me because of the people involved. I cannot remember everyone’s names, my apologies, but many of the team member’s bios resonated with me. I could see myself being friends with all, because of the similarity of interests. Then, further along, the Poetry Lighthouse and its mission truly did seem like a place where I can begin this journey. Reading poems amongst people that enjoy the same literary world that I have perfectly envisioned in my head? That is a dream come true. I hope to learn so much from all of you, and most of all, become a better poet, through and during the reading process.
