To defying time

Para desafiar al tiempo
su presencia indómita en mi entrecejo
su bocota mal hablada
monté semidesnuda a mi corcel
que tan fogosamente me insistía
y cabalgué
en el baño del Teatro San Martín
en pleno Festival 
de Poesía
así a oscuras 
la luna estalló 
contra mi pelo
un niño pude oír
suplicándome al oído
para desafiar al tiempo 
me quedé
estacada en el presente
con ese casi hombre
un casi desconocido
que bien pudiéndolo no hacer
solo me hablaba de amor

To defy time
his untamed presence in my brow
his ill-spoken mouth
I mounted my steed half-naked
as he ardently urged me on
and so I rode
in the bathroom of the Teatro San Martín
in the middle of the Poetry Festival
there in the darkness
the moon burst
against my hair
a child I could hear
pleading in my ear
to defy time
I stayed
staked in the present
with that almost man
an almost stranger
who, though he could have done otherwise 
spoke only of love
