Birthday Laundry

Peg me on the washing line today,

I’ll dry in that breeze in no time.

I’m not to be tumbled - too harsh.

At my age, patched and darned,

I have less wear left than I’d like.

Watch out for clouds joining forces,

a sudden downpour will only set me back.

Gather me in for safekeeping.
