Qurratulain Khursheed

Hey, I’m Qurratulain Khursheed and I am a poet from Pakistan. I write poetry because  some emotions refuse to mind their own business and writing feels cheaper than therapy  (and way more dramatic). My poems are often inspired by feelings, little moments, and the  strange way ordinary things suddenly become emotional for no clear reason. I have a deep love for literature, especially novels and poetry that feel honest and  relatable. I admire writers who can express powerful emotions using simple words. I’m not  a fan of poets who use long-ass, difficult words like pulchritudinous, sesquipedalian, or  floccinaucinihilipilification just to sound fancy. Oh, by the way, a friend of mine uses words  like that in his poems, but never mind, I kind of like his vocab anyway. (That was off-topic,  hehe)

When I’m not writing, I enjoy reading, overthinking harmless situations, watching K dramas, and romanticizing tiny details that probably don’t deserve it (but here we are). I  tend to notice things most people ignore, like how tea tastes suspiciously different when  you’re sad or how songs only become meaningful when you’re trying not to cry. Naturally,  these observations end up in my poems. Writing is my way of making sense of the chaos  and occasionally making fun of it. Through my poetry, I hope to connect with readers who  feel deeply, laugh at their own emotions, and believe that words can be both serious and a  little unhinged in the best way.

A few of my writings have been published in different anthologies, and I recently self published my first poetry book, Thoughtville, which is available on Amazon.

Apart from writing, I love listening to mostly old music, cooking (even though I’m not a big  fan of eating), and well, I know so many people who call themselves my friends but no one  really knows who I am. They’re not even willing to know, and I’m tired of introducing myself  again and again only for them to leave in the end. Ah well, that’s life, I guess. (Also off topic, hehe)

Oh, and I hope you enjoy reading my poems. In the end, I just want to say VIVA LA VIDA!  Don’t take life too seriously unless you’re overthinking it like me.
