Maria L. Mecham
Maria L. Mecham put down roots with her family in Southeast Alaska seven years ago, trading hours of Colorado traffic for the great Tongass National Forest. Though she stepped away from poetry for many years, she has recently returned to it as a powerful lens and creative outlet for navigating chronic illness flare-ups. Her work often explores duality, integration, and the many hues of humanity.
Her poetry appears in the Upon Learning That anthology, Tidal Echoes, Humana Obscura, and Clayjar Review, among other publications. She can also be found searching for soft patches of moss, picking berries, filling her pockets with cool rocks, and attempting to catch fish.
