Lucy Sage

Born in Philadelphia, I subsequently lived in the Philippines and Nigeria while my father worked for the United Nations. I attended boarding school in Folkestone, England in the mid-sixties but dropped out of high school in 1969, leaving for San Francisco. After waitressing and living in Bennington, Vermont and Cocoa Beach, Florida, I finally received a BA in Art Education and MPA from the Pennsylvania State University. Although public administration was not my strong suit, public policy was, and I worked for politicians for 30 years. In addition to creating poetry, I like to paint portraits and abstracts, walk, and explore cities. I am also at work on a memoir. Recently, I lived in St. Petersburg, Florida for eight years and contributed a number of poems to Neptune, a local poetry and art magazine. I returned to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania in 2023, where I have lived for most of my life. My poems have been published in Florida Bards Poetry Anthology 2025, Underwood Press, The Closed Eye Open, Writing in a Woman’s Voice, and Quail Bell, among others.
