David Keyworth

I was born in West Bromwich but grew up in North Lincolnshire. My first published poem was on a beer mat . I was awarded a  New Poets Bursary in 2013 by the Northern Writers’ Awards (New Writing North).  I am also included in The Best Ever Book of Funny Poems (Pan Macmillan, 2021). My debut pamphlet, The Twilight Shift, is published by Wild Pressed.

I have recently completed a sequence of poems called Death and Taxis, which I hope to include in a new pamphlet.

I was included in the anthology Poems for Grenfell Tower (Onslaught Press, 2018) and the related geolocated sound installation - Voice of Trees - by Giovanna Iorio.  A sound installation in memory of the victims of Grenfell with the voices of the poets from the anthology: "Poems for Grenfell Tower" Voice of Trees.

I have read a poem(s) at venues varying from The Army Museum, Chelsea, The Poetry Cafe, Covent Garden to the Anthony Burgess Centre Manchester, Stockport Art Gallery, Wordsworth Trust, Grasmere and the Drill Hall, Lincoln.

I enjoy well-run open mic nights.   T.S. Eliot is my poetry hero. A more contemporary poetry book I enjoyed recently is ‘Shine, Darling’ by Ella Frears

I write for the website Weekend Notes  https://www.weekendnotes.co.uk/manchester/writer/502/
