L.J. Henshall

L.J. Henshall is a writer from Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, England. Her writing is most often inspired by her childhood, growing up working class in Northern England. Whilst she is a proud Geordie, L.J. moved to the North West to study a Bachelors degree in Creative Writing at Edge Hill University.

As a recent graduate (July 2025), she achieved a First Class degree with Honours but it was during her time at University where she truly began to develop a passion for poetry. In her second year, L.J. joined the Edge Hill Slam Poetry competition team, performing and competing in Birmingham for the 2024 UniSlam Festival. In preparation for this, she began to attend and perform at open mic nights in Liverpool.

In her third year of university, L.J. alongside two friends, co-founded a writing society with the Edge Hill Students Union. This was a passion project for L.J. who wanted to help other aspiring authors find their style and aid in their understanding of the world of publishing. At the end of the academic year, L.J. and the committee created the first edition of the Wayward Writer's Magazine so that members of the society could submit their work and receive a publishing credit.

L.J. has been published by Emerald Publishing (2024), Proestrics Magazine (2024), Hot Pot Magazine (2024), Wayward Writer's Magazine (2025), and now The Poetry Lighthouse (2025). She has also had poems longlisted with Northern Gravy.
