Angela Heiser

Angela Heiser lives near Raleigh. Her work appears or is forthcoming in Arcana Poetry Press, Spark to Flame, Gigantic Tentacles, Carolina Muse, and The Red Mud Review. Her poem 'Cornhusker' was awarded the Poetry Genre prize for the 2024-2025 issue of The Red Mud Review. She is an alum of Writers in Paradise and is a volunteer reader for Abode Press, Wildscape and Libre Lit. She is researching and writing a book of documentary poetry on American women in STEM and aerospace, with a particular focus on the Mercury 13 women. Angela is inspired daily by the work of Emily Calandrelli, Kellie Gerardi, Amanda Nguyen and other women in STEM. As the granddaughter of a National Park Service Ranger, she draws much of her inspiration for her poems from observing her children in nature. She hopes to preserve those tiny moments of wonder when her children spot a new animal up close or find themselves at home in the crook of a tree branch. Some of her favorite writers are Rachel Beachy, Loryn Brantz, Alex Dawson, and Mary Oliver.
