The Princess and Her Frog
There was once a princess,
searching for her prince;
She searched high and low,
she even searched the bogs.
And here our story stalls,
for there she met the frogs.
And knowing how fairy-tales go,
she set to kissing them all.
She kissed kind frogs,
old frogs, snide frogs,
she even kissed a frog who thought himself a prince.
And when her kiss didn't work,
the frog turned cruel.
He slung mud on her crown,
on her name,
till our princess, didn't feel like a princess at all.
Her father, the King, called from high above;
"Come home, dear child, Come home to love".
But still, the princess didn't listen,
she didn't feel worthy at all.
She kept on trudging through the mire,
sinking deeper and deeper,
until she met a frog;
a prince who had forgotten who he was.
They quickly became friends and together they trudged.
One day, the King came to get his daughter,
with a single touch she was transformed and restored.
She grabbed hold of her friend,
the princely frog,
and in her happiness, gave him a kiss.
Oh! And what a kiss it was!
For he too was transformed;
into a dashing charming prince,
Oh! What a beautiful sight, it all was.
Truly grateful,
he swore to his princess,
his eternal love, forever adoration,
in the presence of their Lord.
But fairy-tales end in the middle,
for a reason or two,
and for those very reasons,
this will end here too.
