The Chicken or the Egg

Was woman formed from first man's rib,

or was man brought forth by woman?

Grown and nurtured inside her,

held and fed from her very breast.

Who gives life, if not woman?

Oh, how the patriarchs feared the truth,

declaring their right to rule 

like children atop a hill.

They fear it still—

Regulating her body through legislation.

With threats and coercion

—violence—

they assert their will.
