Recalibration

My manager said to me,

“His surname begins with G-I-D-”

No results.

I let out a sigh,

I type it again,

“Am I being daft?

Hold on a second..”

I try again,

Typing “g” then “e”,

Because in my mind,

“i” is ee in French, you see,

And “e” is the first letter of “eye”,

So when you say “i”, I think it’s “e”,

And as for “e”, I now hear “i”.

And if that’s confusing,

Don’t get me started on “g” and “j”,

gee for “j” and jai for “g”,

It’s a wonder I still manage “abc”!
