Ars Poetica #3

for this poet to be happy,

repeat tasks as followed:

  1. write really good poems

  2. do that every day

can i be a poet if my poems are bad; or only good sometimes –
  depending on my

mood? depends, if clouds arrange a certain way
 or the wind blows southeast,

maybe

i’ll be able to love my poems
 the way i want,

the way those before me have loved what is theirs

but possession makes no poem good.

one should not hold its hand,

fit prose into a mold,

put villanelles in a sonnet’s coffin.

poems are like rebellious teenagers from a modest christian background

who sometimes steal.

poems are like

future lovers

waiting

to talk.
