Mackenzie Bennett
Hi, my name is Mackenzie Bennett! I graduated from McMaster University with a degree in Justice, Political Philosophy, and Law, alongside a minor in Classical Studies, and more recently from Centennial College’s Publishing program in Toronto.
While my academic journey began with politics and philosophy, I found myself continually pulled toward literature and the written word. Today, I work as both an editor and a writer, blending my love for storytelling with a background that sharpens my curiosity and critical eye.
My love affair with poetry began with Homer’s Iliad and Odyssey, and it’s only deepened since—these days I’m especially drawn to confessional poetry for its raw intimacy. I’ve also developed a growing love for memoirs and essay collections, which combine personal voice with universal reflection.
My all-time favourite book remains The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde, but I’ve recently been captivated by works that explore memory, identity, and connection in fresh, vulnerable ways.
Outside of books and editing projects, I spend most of my free time writing, reading, and hanging out with my dachshund, Callie. She’s both my most loyal companion and my sassiest critic, never far from my side (especially if snacks are involved).
