Hi, I’m Alex, a PhD student at Northeastern University London and part-time volunteer editor at The Poetry Lighthouse.

Despite my primary academic interests being in the areas of political theory and intellectual history both literature and poetry have always played a key role in both my academic and personal life. Reflected most starkly in my successful MA thesis at Queen Mary University London which revolved around the work of renowned literary and philosophical writer Iris Murdoch, and my lifelong interest in the philosophical questions raised by great sci-fi and fantasy writers from J. R. R. Tolkien to Ursula Le Guin.

More personally there's nothing I enjoy more than a lovely long walk in the park or catching a drink with friends and some street food with friends or wrapping up with a game/book and a big mug of tea on a cold winter's night. After all, where better than when wrapped up in a warm blanket with a hot chocolate to forget about this increasingly turbulent world of ours and enjoy one of life’s purest pleasures, a good piece of writing?
