Brooke Gerbers

Brooke, or B the Poet, is a queer poet currently residing in Denver, CO. B’s first full length collection, “Skydiving Without A Parachute and Other Success Stories” was published in 2024, and their name appears in various other anthologies such as: The San Diego Poetry Annual, Quillkeepers Press and South Broadway Press. B’s poetry discusses all of those topics we are taught not to talk about at the dinner table including but not limited to: queerness, religion, trauma and current political issues. B currently hosts a monthly poetry slam in Denver: The Lavender Mic, as well as teaches re-occurring poetry writing, and poetry slam workshops. Because B’s background is in slam poetry, their inspiration comes from many of the influential spoken word poets such as: Rudy Fransisco and Andrea Gibson. B also reads any and all books Ocean Vuong and Yrsa Daley-Ward publish. When Brooke isn’t on stage or with her head in a notebook, she works as a Behavior Analyst and spends as much time as she can outside in the mountains with her rescue pup.
