Michelle Brown
Hi, I am Michelle, I am about to turn 60 this year, and so have embarked on finding a new version of myself as poet and short story writer. I am a high school history teacher at Albany Creek High School. I garden and spend a lot of time with my blue heeler Stella.
My favourite writer at this minute is Patti Smith – I love her Blake infused vagabond heart. The randomness and poetry of her thinking processes sparks both wonder and love in me.
I am just getting started but I have been published as a regular contributor to Waxpoetry and Art Weekly competitions, winning four times. I was selected as the winner for the first Australia magazine for that year, and ventured into spoken word poetry with much a amusement and not a little trepidation.
I have also been published in Unbroken, Under the Basho, Red Fern Review, and The Zest of the Lemon Vols 3-4. I am excitedly awaiting The Cove Magazine’s 03 Footnotes where a poem that is dear to me is about to be published.
I am trying to juggle these new and challenging horizons with high school teaching and a Master of Arts: Writing and Literature.
