Ana Dee

Ana Dee is a confessional poet currently based in Canada, originally from Serbia. Her writing is tender, intimate, and a little haunted. Ana’s debut poetry collection, Untouched, explores themes of love, longing, loss, and self-reflection in a way that is both piercing and tender. She is endlessly curious, drawn to the beauty in darkness and the complexity of human connection.

Ana’s favourite author is Erica Jong, whose fearless approach to desire, womanhood, and self-discovery has shaped the way she approaches honesty and raw emotion in her poetry. Ana is largely drawn to writers who explore interior worlds with emotional precision. Some of her favourite poets are Louis Gluck, Joy Sullivan, and Lauren Eden. A few of her favourite books include Fear of Flying by Erica Jong, Written on the Body by Jeanette Winterson, Wifey by Judy Blume, and Giovanni’s Room by James Baldwin.

Outside her writing life, Ana loves to take long walks and hikes, drink too much coffee, snuggle with her cats, and sing her heart out at karaoke. She reads past her bedtime more often than she sleeps, and her personal aesthetic still carries traces of her emo-grunge adolescence: burned CDs, dark eyeliner, neon lights, and a persistent melancholy.

Ana is the winner of the 2025 Central Avenue Poetry Prize. Her poems have appeared in Button Poetry, Querencia Press, Sunday Mornings at the River, Campfire Poets, Train River Publishing and others.
