The Mayor of Dustin Moonshine

They found the mayor  

outside the lair—  

the glint  

still in his eyes.  

The doctor said  

the mayor was dead  

but the crowd  

begged him to rise.  

They waited till  

the stretcher came  

and took the mayor’s  

remains.  

And now they’re sure  

they’ll learn the score  

before the next moon  

wanes.
