Screen I & II

Screen I

I couldn’t see you

behind the grey screen.

I knew you were there.

Where else could you be?

But the glass keeps us apart.

And it reflects my

loneliness

back at me,

filtered, like a truth

mouthed, but never spoken.

Screen II

The Japanese understand

the purpose of screens:

They are made by men,

and so, have no true nature.

It was Man who found them one:

To keep us apart.

And they do it well,

in cinemas and in wars,

in offices, and just now.

Or can't you see it?
