Previousness

When you are out walking alone, you might round a corner, walk headlong into full sunshine. Don’t be shy, enjoy its kiss on your face – the tickle, like cherry blossom bathing your cheeks – the sense that Spring is embracing you, and you alone, and why not you?

You have been here before; you know the way the river on your left-hand curves and chuckles. The way the trees on your right, shepherd the broken hedge beside you. It is not beyond belief to return here any time – to sink into the soft shoulder of their embrace.

You may feel a sense of previousness – allow it. Allow it to happen – small words on the riverbank; giggles in the trees; the scruff of litterfall with each step you take. Take another step. Walk towards that sunshine – sing, whistle, pick up the pace. Follow your instinct to renew again.
