Let's kill boredom
by overdosing on the fun we stored
when times were short and free,
and we never thought we could be this bored.
Let's pretend to wake up
to the tossing arms of the city's rush,
by flustering through our wardrobes
and running innocent showers
to mimic the gradually fading rush hours.
Let's recreate the workplace madhouse,
by screaming down the nervy edges of our balconies,
dishing orders through the furious taps
on our phone’s keypads
to non-existent subordinates—for we are now actually lonely!
Let's long
for old times and forgotten treasures.
Let's have our vacations
by visiting places in our sleep,
reaching out to those fantasies by holding hands.
Let's drag the baggage our minds have become
through the conveyor belts
in the pristine corridors of our trances,
for when we had time, we never took our chances.
Let's invite the sun on a hot afternoon into our rooms;
we need to swim
with the little comfort we are straddled with,
or is it the little peace we mustered?
Away from the news of disease clusters,
to create a swimming pool of sweat
on our beds, where we can waddle.
Let's create fun in the clubs of our minds,
by dancing around the thoughts of those we missed,
or the memories of those we left behind,
and fractious relationships we could have fixed.
Let's kill boredom
by overdosing on the fun we stored
when times were short and free,
and we never thought we could be this bored.
