Lightbirds

slide through the pane on solar chutes

to bathe in mirrorglaze,

rebounding

at shock velocity

at the lack of splash,

the breakneck landing,

in a flash,

swinging

on the taut pendulum

of measured mathematical thread –

  a diversion,

and alighting instead on the wall.

Luminous origami hovering on a transient roost,

they flutter, splaying angular wings,

spectral glow shivering, emulsion-cool.

Whiteflame stuttering,

they flock to their nest of golden hair

and settle in its tangled flares,

feathered in phosphorescence.
