How to Mend a Silence (In Case of Collapse)

1. Hold your breath.

    The walls don’t know

    they’re cracking.

2. Unfurl your fists

    into water. Let it seep

    through the gaps.

3. Slowly count to ten, open

    your pores wide

    to breathe the dark.

4. Sweep up the shattered

    syllables into the

    furthest corner. Cover up

    with your sadness.

5. Enter through silence,

    so you may be

    alone together.

6. But leave the door ajar

to let the scent of rain

    drift in, so silence

    won’t be left alone.

We are collapsing all the time,

and we don't even know it.
