Fast Falls A Fleecy Shower

Tell me a story about consonance,

or bend your wrist to accommodate

the wet-fish handshake you present.

Everyone skates past you at the rink,

afraid to reach into the romance

that may have preluded the shinny.

Will you last beyond the first few

minutes, or should we have a sub

on hand in the event you tank?

All I’m saying is that a clutch-and-grab

style no longer pumps the bosses  —

They call for speed, they demand it.

Keep crawling along, man. A loss is not

a loss until the last stride is taken

and the skates come clanking off.
