Enough: To the lone sapling growing on the mountainside cliff edge

Is this mist or cloud?  Are they facets of the same thing, merely separated by a label given to them, their intrinsic properties all the same?  There is soft moisture here, enough for growing.

Sunlight shimmers through the water vapour, enough for photosynthesis, bringing life to the green leaves of this solitary tree.

The trunk is a ramrod straight spine, telling of an upward stretch, a search for light, as does the spreading foliage that reaches towards sunlight, which is enough.

The narrow crack along the precipice has allowed a scattering of rock fragments and dirt to gather, just enough for the roots to grab onto.

Despite the altitude, the buffeting winds and lightning, the winter freezes and the scouring mid-summer sun, there is shelter enough.

Tiny lizards live in these rocks.  There are bugs too, doing what bugs do.  Amid the extremes there is a thriving habitat.  The elevation proves no obstacle to the birds, large or small.  The rocks have enough toeholds, ledges and crevices – what seems inaccessible to us has more than enough for marmots, little brown bats and avians.  It is enough for life.
