Concert
As darkness falls, the house lights dim,
the wind chimes bang and branches drum.
They beat a rhythm for the swish
and swirl of gusts that toss the pots
to crash like cymbals on the lawn.
An orchestra of percussion
pounds the night until at last
the thunder cracks and silence reigns
before the woodwind birds start up
and dawn steps out to garner all
the clapping of another day.
