The seagulls and pelicans

get the better of us

no matter how fast we reel

in the yellowtails.

This feeding frenzy leaves me

so exhausted I just want to

stop and ponder the red

steel girders of the lighthouse,

the teal ride back to Big Pine Key,

and the taste of what we’ve got.
